Just returned from the visit... Today, I went to the factory as part of the indutrial visit & assignment... The factory is located at Jln Boon Lay (Near to Boon Lay MRT). The tour guide brings us around the factory, from the mixing process to the baking & the packaging. This is my first time I visit a factory... When I looked at how the biscuits were made, it was so delicious that I'm tempted to eat it. I can semll the aroma of the biscuits. When I stand near the oven, it was so hot that I'm perspiring... The oven's temperature is about 180-400 degress celcius !!! There were a wide range of biscuits, ranging from chocolate to lemon puff... They also produce specialty cookies such as chocolate mint & so on. Here are some of the facts:
1) In 1 mixer, they use 20 ton of wheat flour !!! ( The flour used is PRIMA flour)
2) Cream crackers( normal crackers) are the most hit. Everyday, they need to do it coz the demand came mostly from overseas. There are 3 trays. 1 tray is exculsively used only for cream crackers while the other 2 are used for any flavours at random. Out of the other 2, one tray, 2-3 flavours of biscuits are made per day !!! The production surpervisor will decide what type of biscuits are made for the day (depnding on demand).
3) Lemon puff,Sultana & Cream crackers are top 3 sellers !!!
4) 50% of the goods were exported overseas such as Malaysia,Phlippines,Indonesia & as far as US,UK & Japan !!!
5) This year, the company is celebrating its 60th anniversary !!! (Started in 1947)
6) Company awarded with ISO 9000 & ISO 9001 !!!
7) Do u know that KG Biscuits are also supplied to army camps & Singapore airlines planes ? =D
Yeah, that's all for the visit. I enjoyed myself there even though it is short. Btw, just now, IOC quiz 2 was okay but I think I'm going to score 60% coz most of the qns I cant do it. this quiz is hard. =(
Tmr, I'll be having ITM quiz @ 5.45pm after ITM practical.
